Behind every successful business are the people who help shape it.
We’re sharing a series of employee Q&As to spotlight the experiences, perspectives and career journeys across our teams. From those just starting out in their careers to senior leaders, these conversations will explore what growth really looks like in practice – the opportunities people have taken, the challenges they’ve navigated, and the support that has helped them along the way.
In this blog, you’ll hear from Hannah, Head of Product Marketing, as she reflects on her career journey, the experiences that have shaped her growth, and what she’s learned along the way.
You’ve progressed through several roles within ClearCourse – what helped you feel confident navigating those moves?
I’ve always felt supported and believed in when I’ve been lucky enough to have the opportunity to progress at ClearCourse. This has been thanks to having a passionate team around me that genuinely care about what we achieve and how we get there.
What’s a skill you’ve really worked on developing here, and when did you start to notice it making a difference?
Adaptability has been a key skill for me that is integral to my role. Growing from the responsibility of one brand to a broad range of brands across verticals over my time at ClearCourse has meant adapting to new ways of organising my time, building relationships with an expanding number of stakeholders, and navigating change in a dynamic setting.
Now that you manage a team, what have you learned about helping others grow, and how has that shaped your own development?
The most important thing I’ve learned about helping others grow is that everyone is on their own path and brings different strengths to their role. Even if they have the same role as another team member, they still have completely individual needs and ways of working. This has made me realise that how we coach needs to be tailored to that person to help them reach their potential. In terms of my own development, it has helped me identify my own strengths, areas for improvement, and what styles of learning I respond best to.
What’s something you’ve learned here that you now make a point of passing on to others?
The only constant is change and it is something to be embraced. We are in an environment of changing markets, heightening customer expectations, evolving technology, and exciting business acquisitions. It all makes our roles more challenging but more rewarding when we can harness the positive aspects of change. Whilst staying the same is comfortable, change brings opportunity.
What have you gained most from your time here, and what have you enjoyed contributing?
I’ve enjoyed discovering new verticals and exploring the differing software needs of customers in a broad range of sectors. From tradespeople in field services to retail managers of Premiership football clubs, each ClearCourse business is designed to solve the problems of people working in hundreds of different settings. Discovering their pain points and how we can alleviate them is what we as the marketing team use to communicate our products’ value.
